Brewer Carnage!
By: Adrian Holman | Tuesday August 3rd, 2010

With the team being almost completely out of playoff contention at 48-58 and 11 games behind the Cincinnati Reds for the NL Central Division lead, the Milwaukee Brewers found somebody to let off some frustration.  That team happened to be the woeful Chicago Cubs.

Once the game tonight was over, the final score read Milwaukee 18, Chicago 1!  All eighteen runs were scored after the third inning.  After the third, the Brewers scored in every inning:  five in the 4th, five in the 5th, one in the 6th, two in the 7th, three in the 8th, and two in the ninth.  During the carnage surprisingly, the Cubs only sent four pitchers to the mound throughout the game.  That complacency displayed by the Cubs allowed for many of the Brewers to have some of their best hitting efforts of the year.

RF Corey Hart went 4 for 7 with a double and a RBI and scored three times.  LF Ryan Braun went 5 for 7 with 2 RBI’s and scored three times as well.  1B Prince Fielder went 5 for 7 with five RBI’s and scored twice.  3B Casey McGehee went 2 for 5 with one homer and 4 RBI’s.  Even SS Alcides Escobar went 3 for 5 to raise his average to .250!

Hopefully, this type of win can propel Milwaukee into the start of a winning streak because the team was on a five game losing streak before this game.  Playing the Cubs the next two nights will help along with their next two series being against the Houston Astros and the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Let the carnage continue!
