A Foul Ball Is Not That Important
By: Adrian Holman | Wednesday July 7th, 2010

Have you ever seen a baseball fan fly?  Well, that is what happened at last night’s game between the Texas Rangers and the Cleveland Indians in Arlington, TX.  This game is probably one of the very few games in which the Indians will receive national attention.

In the bottom of the fifth inning with Texas leading 3-1, Rangers OF Nelson Cruz hit a foul ball down the right field line near the second deck.  A fan reached for the fall ball and fell over the railing into the field level seats.  The entire crowd was silent as they watched this horror happen right before their eyes.

Fortunately, paramedics were able to help the fan immediately.  The fan was able to move all of his limbs and was conscious.  What cushioned the fall for the fan is that he landed on four other fans.  Those four fans received minor injuries.

Play was postponed for sixteen minutes as the players and the crowd were traumatized.  As soon as the players saw the incident, some of them began praying for the well-being of that fan.  The rest were still in shock.  If you are wondering, the fan’s name is Tyler Morris.

The Rangers appeared to recover quicker than the Indians because the Rangers won the game 12-1.  Texas is now 49-34 with a four and a half game lead over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
