Blackhawks Win The Stanley Cup!

Ah yes!  You can now go to the hardware store and buy yourself some blueprints for a bomb shelter that you will need for the impending apocalypse because the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime to win the NHL Stanley Cup Finals in six games.  The game also had one of the weirdest endings to a Stanley Cup series when Blackhawks Patrick Kane’s shot 4:06 into overtime went into the net.  The puck became stuck in the padding in one of the sides of the goal post.  After Kane hit the shot, he was the only one celebrating while the referees checked the shot on instant replay.  After the referees allowed the goal, Philly fans were in absolute shock; that was the first time that I can remember that Philly fans didn’t boo.  Hey MLB, instant replay works.

Two Year Ban For USC

Former USC head coach Pete Carroll knew when to leave.  Reports show that the USC football team will receive a 2-year postseason ban due to players receiving extra cash and benefits on the side.  As a reward for throwing USC under the bus, Pete Carroll is now the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks.  Hopefully, he goes 4-12 for the next two seasons for not sticking around to face up to the consequences.

Streak Delayed

Florida International’s Garrett Wittels will have to wait until next season to break NCAA’s baseball hitting streak of 58.  FIU was eliminated from the NCAA baseball tournament on Saturday.  However, Wittels moved his hitting streak to 56 games.  Hopefully, he doesn’t spend his time thinking about it too much or he will choke.

Arizona And Illegal Go Together Like …

During the NCAA softball championships, Arizona pitcher Kenzie Fowler threw over twenty illegal pitches during the tournament.  Fortunately, UCLA defeated Arizona even though Arizona was trying to cheat.  It is funny sometimes how sports parallel with life since the Arizona government passed the new immigration law called SB1070.  Will Arizona police check for papers for those illegal pitches?
