Pick 'em Wisely: Week 10
By: Wes F | Friday November 13th, 2009

Another week is in the books and our club house leader Pat McGuire has to be a little upset after last week’s performance.  Pat registered the worst record of 1-3 last week, and when you couple that with Dudley’s 3-1 we have a new leader on the year.  Here is how things shake out entering week 10:

1. DF 19-9

2. PM 13-7

3. TB 16-12

3. WF 16-12

5. NG 6-5

Things are definitely tightening up as we enter the second half.  Do you think Dudley can hold on to top spot for ore than a week?  Here are our picks for this week’s top games…

Steelers @ Bengals

PM- Who would’ve thought at the beginning of the season that this was going to be a crucial game for the AFC North?  I sure didn’t and I am sure you didn’t either.  Pittsburgh played Steelers football against Denver, which always turns out in the favor of the Steelers.  The Steelers are just now starting to click, which is bad news for the Bengals.  This game being played at Heinz field helps the Steelers prevail BIG.

NG- Pittsburgh is playing some very good football right now and I think they will prove to be a little too much for the Bengals.  Steelers win in a close one.

DF- Big Ben rolls on in this one. I don’t think the Bengal’s defense can keep up with the power running and passing of the Steelers. I like Pittsburgh by 2 touchdowns.

TB-Both teams are in very good place right now: High-powered offense, stacked defense. Pittsburgh has been in, and won, more big games in two years than Cincinnati ever has in their existence. Steelers by 9

WF- The Bengals stole the first meeting between these two and I can’t say I like their chances this time around.  The Steelers have ripped off five wins straight and I like them to make it six with an emphatic win at home.

Eagles @ Chargers

PM- San Diego is only now one game behind Denver.  The Chargers are playing good football and Denver is on the slippery slope downwards.  Philadelphia is a good team, but SD wins in a close match-up out west.

NG- Both teams are rolling right now, but I like the Eagles to take the Chargers back down to earth.  Without Phillip Rivers that team has one or two wins at best.  Philly big in a blowout.

DF- I think Philly is back on track and cannot afford a loss. The good SoCal climate will be what Mcnab needs. A lot of passing in this one with SD coming up short. Eagles by 7.

TB-It’s hard to decide which coach is going to screw something up last in this game to cost their team. Therefore, it comes down to quarterback play for me, and I like Rivers over McNabb. Chargers by 3.

WF- I know Philly was embarrassed in their last trip out west, but I just don’t trust San Diego.  They’re far too inconsistent week to week and I just hate everything about Philip Rivers.  McNabb has a field day passing and the Eagles win big.

Patriots @ Colts

PM- NFL Game of the Week!  The Colts are undefeated as we all know, but have looked sketchy the past two weeks.  I look for NE to win this classic battle.  Manning outplays Brady, but Brady gets the Win.

NG- The Pats are ready to put an end to the Colts run.  Both teams are playing great right now and the Colts seem unstoppable, but I think the Pats find a way to win this one.

DF- The Manning machine at home will be too hard to stop. New England will put up some points but not enough of them. Indy by 10.

TB-OMG!! OMG!! Brady v. Manning!!!! Colts by 7

WF- The Colts have been winning games, but not in the emphatic fashion you would expect from an 8-0 team.  The Patriots are hitting stride on offense with Brady and Moss starting to really click.  I am taking the Patriots on the road in an AFC Conference Championship preview.  I’ve got the outcome the same in that one, too.

LOCKS

PM- Minnesota over Detroit

DF- Miami over Tampa Bay

NG- Atlanta over Carolina

TB/WF- Tennessee over Buffalo

UPSETS

PM- Carolina over Atlanta

NG(2)- Green Bay over Dallas

DF- Philadelphia over San Diego

TB- Seattle over Arizona

WF(1)- Jacksonville over New York Jets
