Week 5 Fantasy Preview
If you’ve been following my picks so far, your team has been winning. No need to build a statue in my honor or start calling me Sir, but I will TOOT my own horn and tell you I am way over 75% on my predictions so far. Every once in a while a Housmanzadah sneaks up on you when you bench him and goes 8 catches for 100 yards- but it happens to the best of us. The Seahawks still stink and they had many more holes they could have filled instead of paying him outrageous money!!! Now to this week
Starts
QB
Donovan McNabb- I know he’s coming back off an injury, but you know Big D saw Kolb tear it up against a few weak defenses and he wants to put up some big numbers to stop the “KOLB” chants before they start. Tampa has given up huge games in passing so far and this week will be no different.
Matt Schaub- I’ve been the guy who has said the Cards D is swiss cheese for a while now. I don’t care how far they made it last year they have a great O and that’s about it. If it wasn’t for DelHomme giving away the rock like it was government cheese they would have been one and done last year. Schaub has a big day in a shoot-out against the other Birds.
David Garrard- He’s not the sexy pick and you may not even have him on your roster. There are a few good QB’s on byes and some others that are beat up. Look for Garrard to put up some good numbers this week against Seattle.
RB
Tashard Choice- I know he’s technically the 3rd string guy there, but both Barber and Felix Jones are brittle and we know what the KC defense does. Don’t sit a stud for this guy, but if you’re stretchin for someone this is the guy I’d be looking for.
Rashard Mendenhall- He looked great last week and he is playing against the weak Lions. Mendenhall was a first round pick and we all know how executives like to be correct with picks. If two guys are neck and neck you know they are playing the 1st rounder over the 7th rounder.
D’Angelo Williams- Don’t give up on this guy yet. He will have a run where he goes over 100 yds and scores a touchdown for 5-6 weeks in a row. This will be the first week. Washington does nothing to impress me and I think Carolina beats them this week for their first win.
WR
Patrick Crayton- See, even though I hate the Cowgirls- this is Fantasy Football and I play to win. Put the feelings aside and I think Crayton has a good week against the Chiefs D with Williams banged up and the RB chaos they have going on.
Bernard Berrian- Before the season started everyone thought Berrian would flourish with Mr Favre in Minnesota. Some injuries have slowed him down- but he back now and ready to burn. He will put up numbers against a weak Rams D. When you drafted Berrian you were expecting big things
Brandon Marshall- He slipped far on draft day and no one knew for sure how this season would end. As long as they are winning Marshall should be no problem and he will continue to put up big numbers as long as he and Orton can play nicey nice.
TE
Vishante Shancoe- Pickins are always thin here at the middle-of-the-tight-end-road store. Shancoe should hit paydirt this Sunday and grab 4 for 50. That ain’t bad if your starter isn’t one of the top 4
Dustin Keller- Edwards is gonna take a bit to learn the system, but he should open up the field for Dustin even in the first week.
Guys who should ride the pine this week!
QB
Eli Manning- No matter what, even if your back up is DelHomme, you sit Eli this week. If he plays and they get a nice lead- he’s sitting. If he doesn’t play because of the injury you’re beat. Eli is a risk this week and you should sit him down.
Kerry Collins- They guy is playing like Judy Collins (Some old folk singer for you young bucks!) and if you didn’t cut him already. Looks like the clock has struck 12 for last year’s Cinderella and if they do not have Vince Young as the QB shortly I will be completely amazed!
Jason Campbell- If the guy can’t score points against the Bucs he can’t score against an NFL team. He’s a scrub and the Skins wish they would have landed Cutler in the offseason.
RB
Brian Westbrook- He I still too banged up for me. My fantasy football rule is have them at least play 1 game at full speed before I can put him in the line-up.
Steven Jackson- You may not have anyone else on your squad that is better- but if it’s close sit Jackson. He is the only weapon St Louis has and Minnesota has a far above average run D to stack up against them.
Larry Johnson- I thought I stole the guy in the 6th. He looks old and slow. I sit him until he shows some life and makes me believe he can still play. I need 100 yds and a td before he cracks my line-up.
WR
Roy Williams- Not sure if he’s even playing, but really who cares. The whole time he has been in Dallas he has only looked good against Tampa. You know how I feel about the ‘boys, so I am glad they gave up a ton for him, but Jerry regrets it every day!
Braylon Edwards- I think he makes plays eventually in the big apple, but not this week. He needs a week to get his grips in the new spot. Next week he may be a start, but this week he is next to me on the bench!!
Kevin Curtis- OK, here’s one I have been wrong on. I though Curtis was coming through big this year and sneaking under everyone’s radar. He is knicked up and it looks like Macklin has taken his spot.
TE
Anthony Fasano- I heard so much smack talk about this guy before the season started. He is, was, and will be irrelevant this year.
Waiver Moves- Short Term
Looking at the QB byes this week you may need someone to fill in this week. This one is tough because you have to watch the news and see what goes on. If Culpepper starts he is a no-brainer and scores some points this weekend. If not I am going with Derek Anderson.
RB- Justin Fargas- He will fill in for McFadden well and will try to get some semblance of an offense their in Oakland.
WR- Long and Short Term- Massaquoi out in Cleveland. Stuckey is a nice player but you saw that “Mr Alphabet” has some rapport with Derek Anderson and will put up some numbers.
Long Term-
QB- Derek Anderson. I said it last week and I am sticking to it.
RB- If Rashard Mendenhall is available you should pick him up. If not I would go with Sammy Morris.
MY SUICIDE FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM WEEK 5
