Last week we saw something that may never occur again: I went 4-for-4 in our analysis picks and lost just three games all together. The elder French(Dudley) proved smarter than the Boz, finishing 3-1 and a Favre miracle away from the 4-0 mark. The Boz hated on the Lions and Jets and found himself at 2-2. Lets see what we can conjure up this week as we take on four of the biggest match ups of week four.
NY Jets @ NO Saints
Dudley French: Can you say shootout? I don’t like either teams’ chances on the defensive side in this game. Mark Sanchez has shown he can hang with some of the best in this league, but he’ll get a front row seat to the Drew Brees show this week. I love Brees and the Saints at home.
Tony Bozma: Mark Sanchez has been great early in the season, but he has to take some rookie lumps at some point. New Orleans wins this game with their explosive offense.
Wes French: No way I can go against Drew Brees and that offense as they return home. The Jets have been great, but the defense has labored and Sanchez has done just enough so far. There’s always a time for firsts and Sanchez and Rex Ryan will taste defeat this week.
Baltimore @ New England
DF: Foxborough is as tough a place to play as any in the league, especially when Tom Brady and Co. have some momentum. The Ravens have been great so far, but this is their first true test of the season. The Baltimore D needs to keep it going, but I like Brady and the Pats in a low scoring affair.
TB: If Tom Brady gets time to sit back in the pocket, he can pick apart any team. He won’t in this game, though. Baltimore wins by two touchdowns.
WF: Baltimore is a tough team to peg right now. They throttled two poor teams but registered a huge win on the road. The Pats are the same, winning a game they shouldn’t have, lose one close and winning convincingly. I like Baltimore as the team that’s more for real, giving the Ravens the nod by a field goal on the road.
SD Chargers @ Pittsburgh
DF: I’m not a big fan of either of these two yet. Neither team has shown me much, losing winnable games. Troy Palomalu is still out and the Steelers just don’t seem to gel without him. I like Philip Rivers to air it out, burying Pittsburgh in a hole too deep to recover from. Give me SD in a road upset.
TB: Look for the Steelers running game to finally come to life this week. We know Big Ben can pass all day, but the Steelers will return to form with hard nose defense and a pounding running attack to win this game.
WF: Do I dare go against the defending champs with them in a 1-3 hole should they lose? Yes, I dare to take the Chargers. The Steelers look vulnerable and seem to be going through the motions. The Chargers can exact some revenge from two loses at Hienz Field last season (week 11, AFC semis) with a win on Sunday as well. I’ll take SD in the upset.
Green Bay @ MInnesota
DF: A revived Brett Favre playing in Minnesota against his old team is a favorable recipe for Minnesota. However, I believe Green Bay(which has changed a lot since #4′s divorce) will put up more points while their defense uses this as a statement game. I’ll take the Pack in a close one.
TB: This is a game of pride. No one has more pride than Brett Favre, especially in himself, and that’s why I like MInnesota at home in this game.
WF: The spot light is on Brett Favre once again, and few are talking about Aaron Rodgers and his reasons to want this game the most. Rodgers has been living in Favre’s shadow for four years now and he finally has the chance to show everyone why Green Bay chose him over #4. I want Rodgers and the gigantic chip on shoulder for the upset victory in Minny.
WF: 4-0
DF: 3-1
TB: 2-2
