Week one of the NFL season was a thin slice of wonderful for Jets fans. The defense looked like a pack of hungry, rabid dogs and the offense looked surprisingly explosive behind Mark “The Franchez” Sanchez and his 272 yards passing. Thomas Jones was one of just a handful of NFL running backs to gain 100 yards and Rex Ryan clearly out coached Houston’s Gary Kubiak. All things onsidered, the coolest development of the opening game was Leon Washington and the Seminole offense.
The Seminole offense looks an awful lot like the more famed Wildcat formation. Brian Schottenheimer and the Jets call it the Seminole offense because Leon Washington went to Florida State and he plays the “quarterback” in the formation. The Jets have clearly designed the scheme to get Washington the ball in open space. With Sanchez flanked out to the right, the Jets are able to capitalize on Washington’s pinball like abilities.
With New England coming to town in week number two, look for the Jets to add more Seminole play to the game plan in an attempt to limit the amount of hits The Franchez will take. Personally I am glad the Jets have added this new scheme because it will make them that much more fun to play on Madden. (Anybody want to battle? I am Middlepoet on ps3)
