If you can stomach following the Michael Crabtree episode in San Francisco, you’ll be happy to know there is another twist to the madness.
A little background: Crabtree was drafted 10th overall in the 2009 draft by the San Francisco 49ers, three picks after the Oakland Raiders elected WR Darrius Heyward-Bey. Crabtree was rated as the No. 1 receiver in the draft and wants to be compensated as such. Crabtree has threatened to forgo the 2009 season and re-enter the draft… the 49ers have refused to budge on their initial offer.
Maybe, until now.
An AP report was published on SI.com Monday afternoon stating head coach Mike Singletary said the 49ers may consider revising the approximate $20 million, five year deal with about $16 million guaranteed.
Not sure who would EVER walk away from $16 million in guaranteed money, but Crabtree just might do it. Or he might not. Who knows.
Wait and see..
